5th Grade Ellen Potter Author Google Hangout

This week at the RBE Library our 5th graders had the awesome opportunity to be on a Google Hangout with Ellen Potter, the author of our Bluebonnet book this year, The Humming Room.

Ellen has previously done a Google Hangout with our 4th grade book club about the same book. I love Ellen becuase not only is she a great author and speaker, but she interacts with our students so well virtually!

During this Google Hangout, the students heard a little bit about Ellen and a couple of her other books, Kneebone Boy and Otis Dooda, which the RBE Library has, so that hopefully our readers will get to enjoy some of her other books as much as they enjoyed The Humming Room. Ellen also talked about her life as an author.

Our students got to ask a lot of questions about being an author, The Humming Room, and the writing process. Ellen is a great person for our kids to talk to about writing! Mrs. Smith, one of our 5th grade Reading and Writing teachers, also asked Ellen some questions about ideas and how writers get started writing when they don’t know what to write about.

This was a wonderful virtual author visit that I know meant a lot to our students! Thank you so much Ellen for being such an amazing author and for taking the time to visit with our students!
