On A Windy Night Spooky Storytime

windy nightThis week at the McSpedden Library we read a great story by Nancy Raines Day and illustrated by George Bates called On A Windy Night. The kids loved this rhyming picture book about a spooky night.

After trick or treating the young boy heads home. He ends up wandering through the creepy woods and a spooky field where he thinks he sees skeletons, pumpkins, and ghosts.

Our favorite part for sure was the repeating phrase that starts as a whisper and ends as a yell:

CRACKLETY-CLACK, BONES IN A SACK. They could be yours-If you look back.

The kids in our library especially loved saying this with me!

After we read the story, the kids got to create their own spooky scene. I gave them a page with 2 skeletons and 2 ghosts to cut out and glue onto a spooky scene page. here is the spooky scene page and here is the page with the skeletons and ghosts to cut out.

The kids had a lot of fun cutting, gluing, and coloring!
