The Halloween Kid with Kindergarten

HK COver

This week at the RBE Library we read a great story by Rhode Montijo called The Halloween Kid. The kids loved this action packed story with the hero, The Halloween Kid.

No one knows who he is or where he came from, just that he appears and protects trick or treaters and saves Halloween any time the monsters threaten to steal candy or ruin the kid favorite holiday.

In his classic western ways and cowboy lingo, this Rootin’ Tootin’ hero uses his lasso to wrangle the mummies, werewolves, and goblins and keep Halloween safe.

The kids in our library especially love the repetitive phrase, Yee-Ha-Halloween!

After we read the story, the kids got to create their own creature for the Halloween Kid to rope and wrangle and color in the page. Here is the coloring page I gave the kids and here is the example I created.

The kids had a lot of fun creating, drawing, and coloring!
