1500 Minute Challenge & Summer Reading Programs

This summer, the RBE Library is going to challenge each and every student and staff member to try to read at 1500 minutes during the summer. This equals out to about 20 minutes a day for every day of summer vacation. Readers can choose when and for how long they read the 1500 over the summer, so you don’t have to read 20 minutes every day. Also, this can include ANY kind of reading: books, ebooks, information on the computer, magazines, digital media, etc. The minutes also include if the student or staff member are reading aloud or being read to. The sky’s the limit and ALL reading counts!

Any student that reads 1500 minutes and completes the reading log will earn an extra checkout coupon that can be used used up to 15 times during the 2013-2014 School Year for a 4th checkout!

Staff members that meet the challenge will earn a read aloud from me for their class during the 2013-2014 School Year.

To make the challenge even more fun, I am including this Summer Reading Bucket List! Just remember to record all your reading on your RBE Library 1500 Minute Challenge Record Sheet.

Be sure that when you record your minutes that you include the date and how many minutes you read. You absolutely can record more than 1500 minutes!

Summer is a time for fun in the sun, a time to play, and time to read some new books!  You can get caught reading by the pool, at the lake, in the car, on the couch, in another state, on a mountain, at a Rangers game….ANYWHERE!  Send a picture to Mrs. Lambertat [email protected] of you reading during the summer and look for it on display in the library when you come back from summer break!   When you send the picture, please include where you are!  Enjoy your        summer!!

If you have any questions about the challenge or anything, please be sure to email Mrs. Lambert at [email protected].
