School Libraries: The Key to Student Achievement

Today I had the pleasure of presenting to a group of PTA representatives at the annual PTA Launch Conference. This year the conference is in Dallas at the Hilton Anatole. The group of ladies that I presented to were so gracious and kind.

I wanted to take this opportunity to share a little bit of what I presented along with my presentation and some helpful links.

Advocating for school libraries is such a privilege for me, but this is mainly because I am so passionate about school libraries and being a school librarians. My platform has always been and always will be the importance of school librarians as instructional partners. My motto was adopted from Mark Ray who once said, “Teach more and librarian less.” When I was at elementary, I shared this video along with my blog post about how I went from a fixed schedule to a flex when I was at elementary school.

In the presentation, I also talked about the importance of resources for school libraries. Everything from furniture to supplies and digital resources to books. PTA partnerships are so important to helping provide these resources to their school libraries and school librarians.
