Last Week @RBE Library

Last week at the RBE Library, we had lots going on! I was out on Wednesday with a sick little daughter, but I missed my students! It was a crazy week, so multiple classed missed their library times. Any student who misses their library time, can come to the library before school any day of the week and return their books and get new ones.

Last week, I read one or more of one of the Texas 2×2 books to kinder, 1st, and 2nd graders. I will continue to read from the Texas 2×2 books until all students in grades K-2 have heard all of them! Also, kinder teachers have one whole set of the books until after Thanksgiving break.

The books I read last week were: Rubia and the Three Osos, Chalk, and Shark vs. Train.

Last week, I also continued reading from The Books of Elsewhere: The Shadows to 3r and 4th graders. I started reading to 5th graders The Strange Case of Origami Yoda. Both of these are Texas Bluebonnet books and wonderful read alouds the kids just love!

Last week, we were also privileged to have Catherine Fowler come and present to our 3rd graders on the history of Frisco. Mrs. Fowler is a gifted storyteller and she enchanted the students. Her presentation was informational and entertaining. Check out the pictures on the Home page, and watch this short video about it as well.

Last week, 1st graders came to the library to find out more information on the pilgrims and the first Tahnksgiving. They watched a short video from the World Book Online, read about first Thanksgiving myths and facts, and learned the correct terminology for pilgrim clothing from EBSCO’s Searchasaurus. You can try out these online databases and see what they did by clicking here.
